Betchcott Hill sits between the Stiperstones ridge and the
Long Mynd, and the reserve is 50 hectares. Currently we have 181 records for
the plants that live there, ranging from 1977 to 2020, and containing 121
species; of which 32 of these are axiophytes.
The land between the Stiperstones and the Long Mynd is an
important corridor and will be part of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy, and
therefore it is important to know what is there before any restoration work
commences.
Volunteers for the Trust have already started to map the
important habitats but it is a large area to cover and the land between the
Stiperstones and the Long Mynd is an important corridor and will be part of the
Local Nature Recovery Strategy, and therefore it is important to know what is
there before any restoration work commences.
Parking is available at the end of the access track at the
top of the hill. Alternatively you can park on the verge of the access
road, or combine into one vehicle and leave other vehicles on the large layby
on the public road on the top of the hill out of Picklescott.
We will meet at SO 4200 9853, https://w3w.co/erupts.exhale.goofy at 11.00am on Saturday 26th July.
Please notify John Handley, email: johnhandley11@gmail.com, if you plan
on coming along.
